What is anxiety?
The aim of the first session is to increase your understanding of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), anxiety, and what is maintaining it. We will focus on the links between our thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and the unhelpful thinking styles that underlie all the different mental health disorders.
How to manage anxiety
During this session you should start to learn how to manage your anxiety. I will explain the key recommended interventions for worry and anxiety. I’ll share lots of examples to demonstrate the use of the interventions and encourage the use of the downloadable information sheets and worksheets.
Activating the soothing part of your brain
In the session I explain to how to activate the parasympathetic nervous system which helps manage anxiety. I demonstrate calm breathing, progressive muscle relaxation and developing an inner place of contentment.
